Classroom Presentations
We offer classroom presentations for students on topics including stormwater management, groundwater, and water quality. These interactive programs can be adapted for any age group, and additional natural resources topics are available upon request.

Yes! (Youth and Environment Stewardship) Grant
Muskegon Conservation District is excited to announce that we are offering mini-grants to local schools in Muskegon County. The Yes! grant program focuses on enabling youth to work with local environmental organizations to solve local environmental issues. Ten projects will be awarded this year for funds up to $500. Education Kits
The Muskegon Conservation District offers educational kits for instructors to use in their classroom. With the use of grant money from Arconic, we were able to purchase these kits which vary in topic and provide adaptable curriculum to meet Michigan Science Standards.
To rent a kit, please contact our office. You will be required to pay a $20 deposit that will be returned when the rented materials are returned to the office.
Our current education kits include:
Enviroscape
Hands-on, interactive demonstration of the sources and effects of water pollution. Easily demonstrate how stormwater runoff carries pollutants through the watershed to a pond, lake, river, bay, or ocean – and the best management practices to prevent this type of pollution from occurring. The overall watershed/stormwater concept is effectively communicated to all ages (children to adults)!
Teachers will need to have to kool-aid and coffee for this activity
Michigan Mammals
Learn more about the mammals that are found in Michigan. This kit comes with animal tracks, replica animal scat, animal fur, and a book about skulls.
Soil
Have a hands-on learning experience with your classroom. This kit comes with the tools needed to test soil texture, nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium. Also includes a soil probe, soil temperature thermometer, and soil color chart.
Weather/Forecasting
Hands-on activities to learn more about weather and how to forecast it! This kit makes collecting weather data fun and easy! Students will study rainfall, snowfall, maximum/minimum temperature, wind speed and direction, humidity, barometric pressure, and cloud types. Also has lessons for 12 different activity stations.
